Biosimilars represent a new advancement in drug technology and have a significant impact on how biologic drugs are managed in health plans. In fact, few other approvals or new entities in the last 10 years have been nearly as disruptive to the pharmaceutical market landscape. Recent and upcoming biosimilar releases create a considerable opportunity to optimize costs and minimize therapy interruption. This presentation will explore key elements of biosimilars and specific considerations related to pharmacy benefit management by payers and health plans.
